Toename aantal kijkoperaties

In Nederland worden steeds meer kijkoperaties uitgevoerd. Operaties aan de galblaas, dikke en blindedarm en bij liesbreuken gebeuren nu vooral via een kijkoperatie. Het aandeel kijkoperaties bij blindedarmontstekingen steeg van 7 procent in 2000 naar 34 procent in 2007.

Kijkoperatie

Bij een kijkoperatie worden een camera en werkinstrumenten het lichaam ingeschoven via kleine openingen in het lichaam. Hierdoor kan de operatie worden uitvoerd met enkele kleine sneetjes prikgaatjes ipv één grote snee.

Dagopname

Het Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) maakte vandaag ook bekend dat het aantal operaties in dagopname is gestegen van 1 miljoen in 1995 naar 1,3 miljoen in 2007. In 2007 werden voor het eerst meer operaties in dagopname uitgevoerd dan in klinische opname waarbij de patiënt tenminste één nacht in het ziekenhuis verblijft.
